Everest approved
Bayer Inc.,’s new Group 2 herbicide for control of wild oats and green foxtail in spring wheat, has been approved for registration.
Everest offers the same control as leading Group 1 grassy weed herbicides, but also controls Group 1 resistant plants.
To be most effective, Everest should be tank-mixed with a broadleaf herbicide and surfactant, as recommended on the label.
Everest’s low rate, dry flowable formulation is designed to save time re-filling, reduce bulky packages and the problems of container disposal. It also means less herbicide use.

Global position receiver
John Deere recently released a new receiver designed to improve its GreenStar precision farming systems.
The John Deere StarFire receiver features a new L-band signal network that improves the accuracy of GreenStar’s global positioning systems.
The StarFire includes:
- A 10 channel engine that allows it to track two signals from 10 GPS satellites at once.
- Accuracy to within 25 centimetres with dual frequency differential global positioning system signal.
- Accuracy to within 76 centimetres with single frequency DGPS signal.
- An average accuracy of 1.8 metres with the free wide augmentation system signal, which is controlled by the United States Federal Aviation Administration and available on the Canadian Prairies.
The receiver picks up signals from the GPS satellites and from the John Deere differential correction network. By using both types of signals, the StarFire receiver calculates position. Then yield and moisture information can be tied to a more precise spot in the field.
