Air seeder monitor
Agtron Enterprises Inc. of Saskatoon now offers the AR-99 All-Run Air Seeder monitor.
The AR-99 helps reach full yield potential by avoiding costly unseeded strips. It monitors up to 120 individual runs. In seed scan mode, infra-red seed flow sensors determine which run is plugged. The seed rate mode displays approximate flow in seeds per minute for larger seed and the count mode displays an approximate seed count for larger seeds.
Two seed tank level sensors and two metering shaft sensors can be added. Digital fan r.p.m. readout is available with the addition of a high speed sensor.

Farm records
Farm Field Records and Mapping has a software program that allows farmers to keep records from year to year. It includes a programmable metric-to-imperial converter; unlimited field and bin records; grain inventory control with values; add and sell grain updates; field and cost recording; field mapping and drawing in color.
System requirements include IBM PC compatible with 386 CPU, Windows 3.1, eight megabytes hard drive space and four mb RAM. It costs $75 including taxes shipping and handling.

Assure herbicide registered on linola
DuPont Canada recently announced that Assure herbicide has received registration for use on linola.
Applied at one litre per hectare, Assure provides control of wild oats and other annual grasses such as barnyard grass, wild millet (green foxtail), volunteer wheat and barley, plus season-long control of quackgrass.
At 1.5 L/ha, Assure controls all the annual grasses and provides superior control of quackgrass. Assure is also registered at .75 L/ha for control of annual grasses, excluding barnyard grass. It can be applied safely at any stage of linola. As well, it leaves no soil residue to limit future crop rotations.
