New Holland recently introduced its LM5000 series of telehandlers. The units combine the vertical lift of a forklift, the strength and speed of a wheel loader and the manoeuvrability of a skid steer.

Three models are available, with a maximum lift capacity of 8,800 pounds and a lift height up to 31.5 feet.

All are powered by 120 horsepower Tier 3 four-cylinder engines that can run on environmentally friendly B20 biodiesel or traditional diesel fuel. The 4 x 3 powershift transmission provides clutch-free, on-the-go shifting.

A choice of three steering modes includes front-wheel steer for maximum control at transport speeds, circle steer for maximum manoeuvrability and tight turning, and crab steer for working beside a wall or building.

An attachment quick-coupler allows fast interchange of attachments, including pallet forks, buckets, hay grapples, bale spikes, bale forks, truss booms and silage facers. Mechanical and hydraulic locking pins are available.

Adapters allow the use of many skid-steer loader attachments, or attachments designed for John Deere 3000 series telehandlers.
