Folicur has been accepted for registration in Canada, giving wheat growers improved access to a fungicide they use against leaf diseases in wheat.
Folicur is the only product registered for protection against fusarium head blight.
The fungicide has been available under emergency use registrations for the past seven years, but it is now accepted for registration to protect wheat crops against leaf and stem rust, septoria leaf blotch, tan spot and powdery mildew.
“Folicur provides comprehensive disease protection for wheat crops from flag leaf through the critical flowering period to safeguard both wheat yields and quality,” said Shaun Corneillie, fungicides portfolio manager for Bayer CropScience.
Folicur’s long-lasting systemic activity protects wheat crops against yield and quality reduction due to leaf diseases, fusarium damaged kernels and mycotoxin production.
Bayer research trials have shown a Folicur application results in an average of 21 percent higher yield, 32 percent lower fusarium damaged kernels, 15 percent higher thousand kernel weight and a 30 percent reduction in mycotoxin levels.
