This is the season of:
“Can’t this car go faster?”
“What time is it?”
“Are we there yet?”
“Mom, Jimmy has all the crayons.”
“Mom, make Jennifer stop kicking me.”
“Dad, stop the car, I think I’m going to be sick.”
“Dad, I have to go to the bathroom.”
“Mom, can I have some bubble gum?”
“Mom, Jennifer got bubble gum stuck in her hair and all over the seat.”
“Dad, I’m thirsty.”
“Are we almost there?”
Happy motoring holidays with the family. This is the chance for establishing meaningful relationships; for having quality time together. No television to distract; no telephone to intervene, just the four of us together travelling along, enjoying the beautiful scenery and each other’s contribution to the stimulating conversation.
“Jennifer and Jimmy, look, there’s a horse.”
“I saw it first.”
“No. I saw it first.”
It almost makes one yearn for a chance to turn on Theodore the Tugboat.
Happy holidays.
