The Saskatchewan health department puts out an eight-page “Healthy Living” brochure, to help guide people away from their bad habits. In the Winter 1997 edition, a sympathetic article on “the swing to vegetarianism” tells how most vegetarians feel it’s healthier to do without meat.
There’s not a word about modern research reconfirming the many nutritional benefits of meat. Maybe ag officials should have a word with their health department colleagues. – Garry Fairbairn
