U.S. determined to kill supply management

The day that the United States cancelled the U.S. Agency for International Development, supply management was on the table.

The U.S. has subsidized the farmers by buying their surplus milk and milk products. The U.S. has these products in warehouses all over the states, and these surpluses have always been distributed through USAID to poorer countries.

Prime minister Mark Carney says his government will support canola farmers, yet estimating the loss and paying compensation in an equitable fashion will be no easy task, but it can be done.

What do they do with them now? Simple — they start dumping into Canada.

We are no longer negotiating with a country but with a single individual who wants to flood our country with their surpluses.

Canadian farmers are at the mercy of our government, who hasn’t shown too many negotiation smarts yet.

What else does Trump want from our farmers — water.

This is a man who doesn’t care about Americans — you can be sure he doesn’t give a hoot about Canadians.
