Don’t you just hate to miss things? Birthdays. Anniversaries. Special events. I do, and according to my calendar I’ve missed celebrating a lot of them lately.

So far this month, I’ve missed out on World Farm Animals Day, which was Oct. 2, and Ten-Four Day on Oct. 4. That was close to my birthday and there was cake, so maybe that could count.)

National Coming Out Day was Oct. 11. I kind of celebrated that one, I figure, since I come (go) out every day to go to work and when I’m at work I go out a lot.

Downturn in grain farm economics threatens to be long term

We might look back at this fall as the turning point in grain farm economics — the point where making money became really difficult.

I did celebrate Credit Union Day last week with a chocolate doughnut and a chat with our local manager.

I missed School Lunch Week, which was last week, and I’m sure a lot of moms and students did too.

I didn’t look up one word on Dictionary Day on the 16th and I missed National Dessert Day as I’ve been skipping that part of the meal lately.

There is still a chance for celebrating this month, with Make A Difference Day on Oct. 25 or Mule Day on the 26th.

Hallowe’en, of course, is on the 31st, so is National UNICEF Day and National Magic Day.

In case your celebrating is not limited to a day or a week, and you are one of those people who likes to decorate and celebrate for longer, you might want to note that October is, among other things, Auto Battery, Country Music, National Car Care, National Kitchen and Bath, and National Park Month.

For those who like to celebrate with food, it is also National Apple, Dessert, Pasta, Pizza, Seafood and Vegetarian Awareness Month.

Something for everyone.

If you’re not too busy in November getting ready for Christmas, you might want to note that Nov. 1-7 marks National Fig Week.

If that doesn’t appeal, Nov. 2-8 is National Chemistry Week.

For those who missed School Lunch Day back in October, Nov. 3 is Sandwich Day. Nov. 5 is the halfway point of autumn day followed on the 6th by Saxophone Day.

Nov. 11, of course, is Remembrance Day and not to be missed.

Later in the month, you might want to observe National Farm-City Week starting Nov. 21, or perhaps National Game and Puzzle Week from the 23rd to the 29th is more appealing.

As of Nov. 28, there will be 26 shopping days until Christmas.
