Readers who visited The Western Producer’s website last week got an eyeful.
There was a lot to take in. Aside from the breaking news we run on our website — and there was plenty (35 stories on our daily news section last week) — we ran two live blogs: one on the Ag In Motion farm show near Langham, Sask., and one on the 2015 CWB Crop Tour that ran throughout the Prairies.
Managing editor Mike Raine and our social media guru, Robin Booker, spent many hours at Ag in Motion, Glacier Farm Media’s first Saskatchewan outdoor farm show, July 21-23. (Glacier also owns The Western Producer.)

Filing from the site was an interesting challenge at times because of limited cellphone reception, as I can attest when I attempted to tweet a photo of a tillage demonstration that left me covered in dirt, but Glacier had a wi-fi connection at its booth that kept us going.
With 200 exhibitors on 320 acres, Mike and Robin had a lot to work with. You can still check out their live blog. There are 35 photos posted from the Producer, as well as many more from others who posted under the #AIM15 hashtag. To cover the CWB Crop Tour, we had five reporters on the road: Brian Cross from the Saskatoon newsroom, Karen Briere from Regina, Mary MacArthur from our Camrose bureau, and Robert Arnason and Ed White in Manitoba.
They tweeted under the #cwbtour15 hashtag, so those interested in finding out how crops were doing across the Prairies in this difficult weather year could find out real time right from the spot of those observing.
Brian covered about 2,000 kilo-metres over three days, tweeting along the way.
Ed gave Twitter followers a good range of photos, including his tendency to showcase his well-known humour.
Mary also packed in a lot of photos in her Alberta section of the tour.
Robert kept us up to date on his tour through southern Manitoba and southeastern Saskatchewan.
And Karen picked up from Swift Current to Regina, where the wrap-up presentation provided an analysis.
