1-800 number

How can you reach our reporters? Got a hot news tip for our news editor? Want to get a coming event in the paper?

Maybe you’re interested in hearing more about our FarmFax news service or some of the books we sell?

We recently installed a 1-800 number for our editorial and editorial services departments, and we welcome your calls.

Some of the other departments in the building have had 1-800 numbers for a few years.

Unfortunately people would use their lines – such as the subscription one – to try and contact us about ideas for news stories.

Late season rainfall creates concern about Prairie crop quality

Praying for rain is being replaced with the hope that rain can stop for harvest. Rainfall in July and early August has been much greater than normal.

The problem was that it tied up subscription department staff, and even if they transferred the call it would continue to tie up the subscription toll-free line.

This created a need for our own special line for the editorial department.

During the next few months we’ll be encouraging you to use it but we’ll also be figuring out its best uses.

If you need access to our services or have any questions or ideas for the news department, Western People or our Editorial Services department, you can now phone us toll-free.

As mentioned, we are limited to one line. You may find at times that when you phone we’ll take your name and number and have someone immediately phone you back on a direct line – this frees up the 1-800 line for more calls. If it’s busy, please be patient and try again.

The phone number offers great potential for us in the future: perhaps we’ll add an answering machine and you can phone us at times convenient to you and leave messages.

Perhaps you can give us feedback on certain questions – for example, would you prefer different sewing patterns on the Farm Living pages?

We look forward to your calls at 1-800-667-6978.
