The Western Producer underwent some management changes last week. Garry Fairbairn is no longer with the newspaper. He had served as editor and deputy publisher since October 1991, and joined the staff as managing editor in 1984.

Elaine Shein, the Producer’s managing editor, has been named acting editor. Shein was hired at the newspaper in 1989 as a reporter in the Saskatoon newsroom. She became editor of the Farm Living section in 1992 and was appointed managing editor in 1993.

Western Producer publisher Allan Laughland said the paper will soon be starting recruitment for a permanent replacement in the editor position.
