When members of the Saskatchewan Women’s Institutes looked around the room, they asked a young member why there were not more like her at the meeting.
Was it the $75 registration cost the older members asked?
No, said Karen Vesey, an SWI member from Shamrock, Sask. attending with her husband and two daughters.
“This is a family getaway weekend. We finished seeding.”
Vesey said she usually attends a regional parks conference held the same time as SWI’s meeting. The family also could have attended a karate tournament.
“It’s not the money or expenses, it’s your priorities. For most, it’s work and kids,” before meetings.
