Central, Red River Valley

- In the south, rains stopped and harvesting resumed.
- Frost of –2 C was reported over weekend.
- Yields are average in fields south of Highway 1, with pastures browning off farther north.
- In the north, soil moisture conditions range from ideal to full.
- Slight frost was reported in Swan Valley.
- Cereal harvests have good quality and above average yields.
- Unharvested cereals around Lake Winnipegosis are at risk from migratory birds.
SASKATCHEWAN
Central
- Good harvest progress was reported, with many acres of crop taken off in good drying weather.
- Good yields and quality are observed, with some bleaching and staining.
- Light, short-lived frosts are less of a concern for the more mature crops.
North
- Harvest is least advanced here, but picking up again under warm sunny skies and good drying winds.
- Light frost reported at Kelvington, Prince Albert, Nipawin and southeast to Yorkton.
- Warm fall weather is in the forecast for the coming days.
South
- Frost reported at Estevan, with temperatures dipping to –2.8 C at Regina and Broadview.
- Western regions are most advanced in harvesting in the province, with about 75 percent of crops in the bin.
ALBERTA
Peace, Northeast
- Harvest progress is slightly better than the provincial average of 21 percent complete.
- Harvest is earlier than normal in the Peace because of drought-like conditions during part of the growing season.
Central
- Light frost was reported at Red Deer, Edmonton, Coronation and Vegreville.
- Crops are behind normal development for this time of year.
- Cooler than normal temperatures and spotty rain were reported through last week.
- Disease and pest issues are minimal.
South
- About 30 percent of crops are in the bin.
- Average yields are reported in cereals and above average yields in canola.
- Bean harvest is beginning.
