Many will be saddened at the recent death of Thomas (“Vic”) Beck, who died peacefully in his sleep at his Regina home April 5, at the age of 76.
For the past eight years, he contributed dashes of wit and insight to these pages through “Vic’s limericks,” good-naturedly chronicling politics and ordinary life. But that was a retirement sideline. His main career as a professional agrologist included being a weed specialist for Saskatchewan Agriculture and becoming head of the plant industry branch. One colleague described him as “a real pleasant guy to be with,” always with a story to tell, and ready to help farmers.
He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Leola, two brothers and sisters, five children, and 12 grandchildren and step-grandchildren.
