Two weeks after Saskatchewan Wheat Pool announced the hiring of a new chief executive officer, the interim CEO announced his retirement.
Bill Hunt will officially leave the pool June 1 after 34 years of service, but will continue to serve as a consultant.
“Bill played an important role in the pool’s value-added expansion, particularly in agri-food processing and livestock production and marketing,” said CEO Mayo Schmidt. “His experience will be extremely valuable as we move forward.”
Hunt joined the company in 1966 and held several management positions. He managed the Assiniboia farm service centre and went on to be manager of crop protection products, manager of fertilizer marketing and operations manager for the farm service division.
