CleanFarms, a non-profit industry stewardship organization, plans to study non-organic agricultural waste in Ontario.

It will research:

• quantity and types of agriculture waste found on Ontario farms;

• who brought these products into Ontario;

• collection programs and associated costs;

• risk assessment of material.

The organization plans to release its findings in early 2012, including recommendations for future industry stewardship options for safe recycling and disposal of various agricultural wastes.

The Ontario government has committed $140,000 in funding over two years.
