People are digging Dustin Bajer’s soil and grass stickers.
What began as a play on words of the successful “I heart Canadian oil and gas” stickers, which supported the Canadian energy industry, has become a nod to Canadian food, forestry and agriculture.
“Soil and grass is already something worth loving,’’ said Bajer of Edmonton.
Bajer doesn’t think he can take credit for the twist of words from oil and gas to soil and grass, but he did create stickers to promote the slogan.

Bajer’s agriculture roots run deep. Born on a farm west of Barrhead, Alta., the former school teacher spends his time promoting urban agriculture, beekeeping and urban forests and is co-chair of the Edmonton Food Council.
Through it all, Bajer has taught students and others in his community the importance of soil and grass.
“I am fortunate I can spend my time in the world of urban agriculture, bees and trees,” he said.
“I hang out in the garden, horticulture and urban agriculture community. The sticker fits quite well with that crowd.”
