Additionally, Riverbend Co-op will acquire an ammonia bullet (tank) in Davidson, and Lake Country Co-op will acquire an ammonia bullet in Petrofka near Blaine Lake, Sask..

This follows the 2021 joint venture that was created between the Blair’s Family of Companies and Federated Co-operatives Limited when FCL purchased a majority stake in the six Saskatchewan retail locations.

The 2021 agreement included Blair’s AgIntelligence ag consulting services, its proprietary PerforMax line of beef cattle nutrition products, and other feed products for the poultry, hog, sheep, horse and dairy sectors and companion animals but excluded other Blair’s owned businesses such as Texcana Logistics fertilizer terminal near Hanley, Sask., and its farming operations, including Blair’s Ag Cattle Co.

FCL recently purchased the remaining shares and as a result was able to sell the locations to local Co-ops to be operated.

In an Aug. 14 news release, Ron Healey, FCL vicepresident of energy & ag, said the joint venture was positive and mutually beneficial, and that FCL is excited for the local Co-ops to take over.

FCL stated that once the transition is complete, the same agronomic services Blair’s offered will be available but with the benefit for producers of using their Co-op membership. There are also plans to expand farm fuel offerings.
