Two well-known Saskatchewan names will be on the ballot in a June 24 provincial byelection in Saskatoon.

Liberal leader Jim Melenchuk, who has led the party since November 1996, will seek a seat in the legislature, as will former Saskatchewan Union of Nurses president Judy Junor. She won the NDP nomination.

The Saskatchewan Party will run Francis Krieser, who ran for the Liberals in the same constituency in 1995.

The byelection is being held in Saskatoon Eastview, due to the March resignation of NDP MLA and former cabinet minister Bob Pringle. Regulations require a byelection to be held within six months of a resignation.
