Saskatoon’s Crop Week live and hybrid meetings are the newest victims of the Omicron COVID virus. While the events are still running next week at the city’s exhibition grounds, the annual general meetings, related market updates and special seminars likely be sparsely attended after the organizers asked producers to dial-in rather than show-up.
The Crop Production Show at Prairieland Park in Saskatoon was to host the AGMs adjacent to the annual indoor farm show in a hybrid meeting format that allowed producers to either attend online or in person. Late on Friday afternoon, Saskatchewan Crop Organizations, the umbrella for most of the crop groups, asked farmers not attend the meetings in person, but rather to attend via Zoom through the internet. While the events will still be running at Prairieland, farmers that show up will not be treated to the usual luncheons.
Some organizations’ meetings were already planned as virtual events, the others were slated to be hybrids of in-person and online. Producers had to register to attend any of the meetings, and while that hasn’t changed, the pre-registrations will be required for access in the fully online versions, according to the organizers.

Saskwheat, Saskflax, Saskcanola, Saskbarley and Saskatchewan Pulse Growers events will now be available via Zoom meetings through a registration page located online at https://us06web.zoom.us/webinar/register/WN_a6FJCMAuQAe181qVY9yStQ.
Once registered, farmers will be provided with electronic tickets and can attend events.
