OTTAWA (Staff) – The House of Commons last week decided the new House agriculture committee will look exactly like the last one.

Through the next few months, the committee will examine agricultural issues ranging from changes to the Canadian Wheat Board to creation of a new food inspection agency and rule-setting for the cash advance system.

The Commons last week agreed the members of the committee should not be changed from the last time it met before Parliament adjourned in June for the summer break.

Prairie members include: Liberals Glen McKinnon from Manitoba and Bernie Collins from Saskatchewan; Reform MPs Elwin Hermanson from Saskatchewan, Jake Hoeppner from Manitoba and Cliff Breitkreuz from Alberta.

The chair, to be elected this week, likely will be Ontario Liberal #Lyle Vanclief. Prince Edward Island Liberal Wayne Easter remains a committee member.
