This year’s high sellers and champions at the Calgary Bull Sale are as follows:
In three of the four sales, the reserve champions sold for more than the grand champions.
The high-selling Hereford and reserve grand champion came from Corbeill Herefords Cluny, Alta., and sold for $25,000 to Poplar Dell Hereford of Edam, Sask.
Grand champion was from Jonomn Hereford Ranch, Clyde, Alta., and sold for $20,000 to Coulee Crest Herefords of Bowden, Alta.
In total, 258 Herefords sold for $944,300 to average $3,660.
The high selling Angus and reserve grand champion sold for $11,400. Consigned by Wayne Sibbald, of Calgary, the two-year-old bull sold to Top Red Angus, Eastend, Sask. Grand champion went for $9,000 to Remitall Cattle of Olds, Alta. It was the entry of Lorenz Angus Farms, Markerville, Alta.

The Angus had 143 head for a total of $529,800 to average $3,705.
High selling Charolais and reserve grand champion came from Stauffer Farms of Eckville, Alta., and sold to Letniak Brothers of Consort, Alta., for $9,500. Grand champion was from Gordon Rattray of Red Deer, Alta., and became the second high seller at $4,350. Silver Birch Charolais at Bruderheim, Alta., was the successful bidder.
The Charolais breed sold 47 head for a $3,236 average and a sale total of $152,100.
High selling Simmental was the grand champion entered by Good’s Royal Simmental Ranch at Cremona, Alta. It sold to Wilson Bros. of Cochrane, Alta., for $9,000.
The reserve grand champion was from Roger and David Deeg of Lyalta, Alta., and sold for $5,500 to Mountainview Colony at Strathmore, Alta.
Simmental sold 51 head for a sale total of $161,850 and a $3,174 average.
The centennial sale of the Calgary Bull Sale is scheduled for March 5-7, 2000.
