BRANDON – Prairie farmers who dreamed of owning the federal government’s fleet of rail cars were to meet last week to quietly wind down their quest.
The coalition of farm groups still wants to own the cars in the long term, said Reg Dyck, the coalition representative from Keystone Agricultural Producers. But the federal government does not show signs of wanting to disperse its fleet in the near future, he said.
The coalition will wind down its lobby efforts until the cars come up for sale again, Dyck told farmers at a KAP meeting here last week.
