It’s not easy for families to find time to make supper during the busy holiday season.
With Christmas shopping to finish, holiday baking to complete and Christmas cards to write, supper is often pushed to the bottom of the list.
To the rescue come these five nutritious 10 minute meal ideas.
- Buy a cooked chicken from the local grocery store’s deli section. In a time pinch, serve minute rice, open a can of corn and heat in the microwave. Serve with milk.
- Buy peeled carrots. Serve with sliced meat, cheese and lettuce on whole wheat buns.
- Make canned soups more nutritious by adding milk, frozen peas, grated cheese and bits of ham.
- Scrambled eggs, toast, sliced tomatoes and hot chocolate is another quick meal that can be made in minutes.
- Make pancakes from a mix. Add an extra egg, skim milk powder and wheat germ to the recipe. Serve along with cottage cheese, sliced fruit and chopped nuts.
