Two Saskatchewan ethanol projects have received assistance under the Saskatchewan Biofuels Investment Opportunity Program.
EnSask Biofuels Ltd. in Tisdale has received a conditionally repayable contribution of up to $10 million and North West Bio-Energy Ltd. in Unity will receive $2.5 million.
EnSask Biofuels plans to produce 100 million litres of ethanol per year at a former alfalfa dehydrating plant. It is undertaking a share sale program with local investors.
North West Bio-Energy Ltd. is a wholly owned subsidiary of North West Terminal Ltd., a farmer-owned inland grain terminal. It has completed its share offering, raising more than $13 million for the planned 25 million litre plant, expected to be complete by September 2008.
The Saskatchewan Biofuels Investment Opportunity Program is a four year, $80 million provincial program that provides repayable contributions of up to $10 million per biofuel project.
