REGINA (Staff) — Saskatchewan Wheat Pool announced last week that Bruce Johnson has been appointed general manager of the company’s grain group.
Johnson, who is currently chief executive officer of AgPro Grain Inc. and acting general manager of the Pool’s terminal elevator division, was appointed effective April 25. He replaces Gerry Liski, who had headed the group since 1990. No reason was given for Liski’s termination.
Johnson’s career in the grain industry began in 1979 when he became director of operations for Northern Sales Co. Ltd. He joined AgPro Grain as chief operating officer in 1990 and was appointed CEO in 1992.

Changes coming
Contacted last week at his AgPro office in Winnipeg, Johnson said changes will be made, but he wouldn’t specify what they might be.
“A change in any of senior management always means a different style — a slightly different vision,” he said. “But it’s a little early to comment on what I see as changes.”
He said Sask Pool is a dynamic organization and he will be looking for ways to do things better, including an emphasis on commercial activity and a greater focus on the bottom line.
Johnson said his background is in operations, marketing and transportation.
“I hope to bring in that knowledge to make money for the members of Sask Pool.”
