Investors holding Saskatchewan Wheat Pool class B shares will get a 40 cents per share dividend Sept. 19.
The pool’s board of directors declared the dividend on June 26. It will apply to shareholders of record at the close of business July 31.
Lyle Spencer, chief financial officer, said the amount of the dividend was based on several factors.
“Certainly profits are one consideration. You’d want to look at the company’s ability to pay a dividend and look at what other companies in your sub group on the TSE (Toronto Stock Exchange) are paying,” he said. Shareholder expectation is another factor, he said.
In the consumer products group of the TSE, dividends tend to run 1.5 percent to three percent of share price.
“On a share price of $17, this is 2.35 percent so it is right in the ballpark,” he said.
On an annualized basis, last year’s dividend was 36 cents a share.
