SASKATOON (Staff) – Former Liberal wheat board minister Otto Lang is joining the board of directors of Humboldt Flour Mills Inc.

The specialty crop marketer in Humboldt said last week that Lang will be chair of the board.

“Mr. Lang brings over 20 years of experience in the grain industry to the corporation, which will enhance HFM’s reputation and exposure around the world,” said John Cales, HFM chief executive officer, in a release.

Lang was minister responsible for the wheat board from 1969-79. After leaving politics, he was vice-president of Pioneer Grain Co. from 1979-88. He is now CEO of Centra Gas Manitoba and sits on the board of the Winnipeg Commodity Exchange.

Humboldt Flour is a publicly traded company on the Alberta Stock Exchange. A leading exporter of mustard seed, canaryseed, lentils and peas, it has sales of about $40 million in more than 40 countries.
