The federal government will spend $474,000 to help vintners uncork new international market opportunities for Canada’s top quality wines.
The funding, which is intended to increase exports and strengthen the production processes of Canada’s wine producers, will include two projects:
• $213,206 through the AgriMarketing Program to help the Canadian Vintners Association implement its long-term international strategy;
• $266,150 through the Canadian Integrated Food Safety Initiative to upgrade the CVA’s Hazard Analysis Critical Control Points-based material, outlining food safety standards for wine producers.
More than $19 million worth of wine was exported last year, with 9.7 million litres going to the United States.
