A new publication will provide veterinarians with a steady diet of information on the latest in research and disease from the Western College of Veterinary Medicine.
Large Animal Veterinary Rounds will be printed 10 times a year in both French and English, with each issue focusing on one case.
Editor Jonathan Naylor said response has been positive to the first issue, which was printed in March and mailed free of charge to 900 large animal veterinarians and 1,600 mixed animal vets in Canada. Naylor edits the stories, which are contributed by vets.
“Articles are hung around a case that writers have seen,” said Naylor, a professor at the vet college.
“If we discover a new disease, we write up the clinical signs and how they sequence the virus.”
In the coming months, Rounds will be available on-line through the Canadian Veterinary Association’s new website.
Rounds is published by Snell Medical Communications, which received funding from Schering-Plough Animal Health for the project.
