New peat plant for Manitoba
Premier Horticulture Ltd. is building a $14.6 million peat moss packaging plant in Richer, Man.
The Manitoba government has assisted the project with a $3 million loan.
The Richer plant will replace Premier’s packaging plant in Giroux, which was destroyed by fire in 2005, said a government News release
news.
The new plant is expected to employ up to 57 people and will have an annual payroll of $2.2 million.
McKenzie Seeds sold
Jiffy International of Norway has bought A. E. McKenzie Seeds of Brandon.
McKenzie Seeds, Canada’s oldest and largest packager and seller of flower and vegetable seeds, had been owned by management and employees.
Financial details of the sale were not released. The transaction was completed through a new holding company, Jiffy Canada Inc.
Jiffy International is the parent company of Jiffy Ferry-Morse of the Americas, the largest packet seed and seed-starting company in the United States.
