“CCHA member companies are investigating 128 claims with nearly half in the Saskatchewan communities of Assiniboia, Willowbunch, Ogema, Gravelbourg, Maple Creek, Elrose, Rosetown and Pierceland,” it said in a June 26 news release.

Claims from Gull Lake and Gravelbourg, Sask., reported light to heavy damage to barley and durum crops. Consul, Ponteix and Frontier regions also had hail claims.

In Alberta, claims were filed by farmers in the regions of Didsbury, Three Hills, Joffre, Beiseker, Hussar, Rockyford, Morrinville, Trochu, Three Hills, Picture Butte, Coaldale, Coalhurst, Barons and Walsh.

Storms that caused the claims occurred June 15, 17, 18 and 19, the CCHA said.
