(Reuters) — Monsanto has reported a smaller fourth-quarter loss and expects growth in the new fiscal year on sales of seeds.

The quarter loss narrowed to $156 million from $249 million a year earlier.

Executives laid out plans for investment in new business units in 2015 despite a challenging environment for global commodities.

Profits will be affected by increased investments in new technology. It will pour $350 million into a new farm data business unit, Climate Corp, and other emerging businesses.
