BRANDON, Man. – The Manitoba government plans to hold a series of meetings on water policy, particularly drainage issues.
The meetings will run June 11-26 and will be held in each area of the province.
The president of Keystone Agricultural Producers said he thinks farmers should make the government aware of their concerns and try to influence future legislation.
Les Jacobson said he hopes the meetings will lead to more precise water policies sensitive to the various regions of the province.
Dwayne Hamilton, a farmer from Glenboro, Man., said he thinks the meetings will be contentious.
“You’re going to have every squirrel kisser and tree hugger in Western Canada out there on this one,” he told fellow KAP members at a recent meeting.
