Meat plant gets grant

TML Foods has received operating financing of up to $272,000 from the Saskatchewan Agri-Food Equity Fund to help build inventory.

A company news release said the money will help TML of Melfort, Sask., to build its business, specializing in processing meat.

Straw plant gets $100,000

Prairie Board Products Corp., a group that wants to build a straw board plant in Assiniboia, Sask., has received assistance from the Canadian Adaptation and Rural Development program.

The Assiniboia group was approved for funding up to $100,000 for its $400,000 planning and research project to set the groundwork for the plant.

The money can be used for research and testing of the type of board the plant will produce, public meetings, engineering and building a stockpile of straw.
