Market Notes – U.S. cattle placements likely record low in July

CHICAGO (Reuters) – U.S. feedlots placed a record low number of animals in July because of tight supplies of young cattle and a bleak profit outlook for slaughter cattle, livestock analysts said.

Feedlots placed 14 percent fewer cattle in July than the same month last year. Analysts had expected 13 percent fewer placements.
