Market Notes – Ukraine wheat doubles

KIEV, Ukraine (Reuters) – Ukraine’s 2001 wheat crop is expected to total 21.4 million tonnes before being cleaned, more than double last year’s 10.16 million tonnes, the government press service said on Aug. 27.

“In line with preliminary data, Ukrainian farms have harvested 21.4 million tonnes of wheat (bunker weight) this year,” a government spokesperson said.

Wheat yield averaged 48 bushels per acre, he added.
