The Manitoba government is kicking in $50,000 toward the cost of a water main and sewer line to a new flour mill near Elie, Man.

A small group of farmers built the $6 million Prairie Flour Mills Ltd. last year.

Rural development minister Len Derkach congratulated the farmers who built the flour mill saying, “Prairie Flour Mills is the kind of private sector initiative that is designed to create value-added jobs in our rural communities.”

The province’s contribution is being matched by the rural municipality of Cartier.

Funding came through the rural economic development initiative, a provincial program that helps communities attract new businesses.
