The Saskatchewan government has sold Thomson Meats in Melfort to a corporation headed by the plant’s manager.

Chief executive officer Paul Kowdrysh bought the Melfort plant and all its outstanding debts for $247,000.

Over the years, the provincial government invested millions in Thomson Meats and in 2001 the Saskatchewan’s Agri-Food Equity Fund took over the company.

The Saskatchewan Party government started to investigate selling the plant in 2008.
