Southwestern Saskatchewan producers who were forced to sell livestock during a drought in 2008 are eligible for tax deferrals.
The federal government announced a deferral on 2008 incomes from those sales.
The deferral comes following a review of forage yield, precipitation, soil moisture and water supply data for the last growing season and is intended to help producers rebuild their herds in spring.
Thirty percent of income from net sales can be deferred if herds were reduced by at least 15 percent, while 90 percent of income from net sales can be deferred when the herd was reduced by 30 percent or more.
