The July 6 Hams Marketing cash price was $215.67, while on June 29 it was $217.41. HyLife was $231.31 this week, while on June 29 it was $232.81. OlyWest was $219.40, down from $222.10 last week.
OlyWest 2021 was down, at $229.20, from $233.30, and HyLife’s adjusted price was $231.31 this week, while on June 29 it was $232.81.
BISON
The Canadian Bison Association reported that domestic carcass prices were $515-$535 per cwt., hot hanging weight, for finished bulls and $500-$520 per cwt. for finished heifers. Mature bulls were $300-$400 per cwt., while mature cows were $300-$400 per cwt.
Carcass prices for bison sold into the United States were US$420-$440 for bulls and $390-$420 per cwt. for heifers. Mature bulls were $320-$335 per cwt. while mature cows were $300-$330 per cwt. All prices are subject to fluctuations in the market and dollar exchange rates.
Prices for live bison in Canada were $2.95 per pound for bulls and $2.90 per lb. for heifers of good quality or better. The mixed live animal price was $2.53-$2.88 per lb.
LAMBS
Ontario Stockyards Inc. reported that 131 sheep and 420 lambs sold July 1.
Beaver Hill Auctions at Tofield, Alta., reported that 1,367 sheep and 286 goats sold June 24.
Wool lambs lighter than 54 lb. were $280-$355 per cwt., 55-69 lb. were $280-$325, 70-85 lb. were $260-$305, 86-105 lb. were $250-$300, and 106 lb. and heavier were $245-$272. Wool rams were $135-$230 per cwt. Cull ewes were $110-$190.
Hair lambs lighter than 54 lb. were $280-$315, 55-69 lb. were $280-$315, 70-85 lb. were $270-$295, 86-105 lb. were $250-$280 and 106 lb. and heavier were $240-$260. Hair rams were $150-$250 per cwt. Cull ewes were $120-$290.
