Kelly and Candace Patrick of Kelvington, Sask. are the Conservation Producers of the Year, chosen by the Saskatchewan Soil Conservation Association.

And the Direct-Tech group from Leroy, Sask. was named conservation group of the year.

The Patricks have been at the forefront of direct seeding technology, have built their own equipment and designed sustainable crop rotations for their farm.

For four years, the Direct-Tech group held demonstrations of direct seeding technology and equipment that regularly attracted more than 1,000 farmers from all over Saskatchewan.

The awards, which were also sponsored by the Royal Bank, were made at the conservation association’s annual meeting Feb. 12-13.
