Jim Graham, a past-president of the Canadian Cattlemen’s Association, died Feb. 13 in Calgary following a brief illness.
Graham was born on July 27, 1927 at Rainier, Alta., near Brooks. He attended the University of Nebraska and returned to the family farm at Rainier. Graham and several partners founded South Slope Feeders, a business operated by his family.
He was chair of the Alberta Cattle Commission in 1984 and a director of the Canadian Cattlemen’s Association from 1982 to 1995. He became its president in 1990 and chaired the Canada Beef Export Federation from 1996-98.
He is survived by his wife Joan, six children and 22 grandchildren. A son, Ken, died in a farming accident in 1994.
