Initial prices increase for variety of crops

The Canadian Wheat Board has announced big increases for spring wheat

initial payments.

It also announced increases for other kinds of wheat, durum, feed

barley and designated barley.

The increase in wheat payments range from $21 to $67.50 per tonne

depending on grade and type.

The increases for No. 1, 2 and 3 grades of hard red spring wheat are

all more than $50 per tonne. The increase for No. 4 CWRS is $45.70 per

tonne.

Extra strong wheat increases by $47.40-$49.40 per tonne.

The increase for red and white prairie spring wheat is $49-$53 per

tonne.

Soft white spring increases by $21-$39.80 per tonne.

Feed wheat rises by $21 per tonne.

Durum increases by $21-$35 per tonne.

Feed barley rises by $20 per tonne.

Designated barley rises by $15-$18 per tonne.

Payments will be mailed Dec. 6 or received by direct deposit on

Dec. 3. Those wishing to defer payments to the new calendar year have

until Dec. 28 to contact the board.
