Husky Energy’s Lloydminster plant will get up to $71.8 million in support from the federal government.
The federal ecoEnergy for Biofuels program will deliver the investment to Husky for its ethanol production.
“The ecoEnergy for Biofuels Program will have a significant role in sustaining the growth of the Canadian ethanol industry,” said John C.S. Lau, president and chief executive officer for Husky Energy.
The government will invest up to $1.5 billion over nine years through the program.
Eligible producers of renewable alternatives to gasoline can receive an operating incentive of up to 10 cents per litre of eligible production for the first three years of the program.
