Saskatchewan-based Heartland Livestock plans to open as many as four cattle feedlots in the next two years, and two of them will be driving fenceposts before the end of 1999 if all proceeds as planned.

The first ones will be located at Eston and Grenfell, Sask., with possibilities of a project at Russell, Man., and another at an undisclosed location.

“We are submitting a prospectus to the Securities and Exchange Commission this week on the Eston location,” said Stuart Stone, of Heartland Livestock.

The planned facilities will be home to 10,000 head of cattle with expansion capabilities to 20,000 head. Capital costs are expected to be in the $5 million range.
