Directors from three John Deere equipment dealerships have signed a deal to buy Green Power Ltd. of Taber, Alta.
The closing date for the purchase is Nov. 1.
The buyers are McKay Bros. Farm Implements Ltd. of Lethbridge, Deermart Equipment Sales of Red Deer and Western Sales of Rosetown Sask.
McKay Bros., will amalgamate with the Green Power Ltd. operations. Grant McGrath, principal of Western Sales, will be the chief executive officer of the new organization.
Green Power Ltd. has Alberta locations in Taber, Burdett and Medicine Hat. The business, operated by the Weatherhead family, is the longest standing John Deere dealer in Canada, having been in operation for 75 years.
Alan Fabro, general manager of McKay Bros., said employees of Green Power Ltd. will be retained in the new organization and recruitment efforts will be undertaken to meet the expected growth of the company.
