OTTAWA (Staff) – When agriculture minister Ralph Goodale appointed Saskatchewan egg producer and former Liberal candidate Linda Boxall to the National Farm Products Council, he missed a golden opportunity to change the way government and politics work, a Reform MP said last week.

Saskatchewan MP Allan Kerpan said Goodale should have left the position open to save money and to reduce government. “Do we really need that position filled?”

And if it had to be filled, the minister should have looked further than the list of well-connected Liberals, said Kerpan.

“The Liberals got elected and talked about doing things differently but this looks like the old politics to me,” said the MP.

Kerpan said Boxall may be qualified, but so are many who are not Liberals.
