SASKATOON (Staff) – Ron Tolton, a former agriculture editor of The Western Producer and the western representative for the Meat Council of Canada died of cancer. He was 72.
Tolton, was born at Oak Lake, Man. and graduated from the University of Manitoba. He went back home to continue his pig operation before working for the paper from 1946 to 1948 as agriculture editor. For 20 years he was the director of western field services for the Meat Packers Council of Canada.
Last November, Tolton was inducted into the Canadian Agriculture Hall of Fame.
