Until the end of March, people have an opportunity to help those less

fortunate without spending a cent or leaving their home.

For each person who signs up for Peak of the Market’s free daily or

weekly recipe e-mails at www.PeakMarket.com, the marketing company will

donate 22 kilograms of fresh vegetables to the Winnipeg Harvest Food

Bank.

Last year when Peak of the Market made this offer, 5,460 people signed

up, sending 123,800 kg to Winnipeg Harvest.

The goal this year is to double that total for the food bank within the

four weeks of March.

“The results really showed how the internet can be used in a positive

way,” said Peak of the Market president Larry McIntosh.

“Literally thousands of people had vegetables on their tables because

people took the time to forward an e-mail.”

Peak of the Market is a grower co-operative representing 60 vegetable

producers. Founded in 1942, Peak of the Market is a Canadian-owned

company with annual sales of $40 million.
